July and Fenland Galleries

The rest of the images from our July meeting are in the July Gallery.

Our challenge Gallery this year is 'Fenland' - any images taken in the Fens and, as will be explained in more detail next month, these should be a portfolio of 5 images. I have started the ball rolling with a set of five infrared monochrome landscapes. you may submit more than one portfolio during the year

Nik Software Part II

Here we have two contributions showing before and after images.

Paul Ashby visited Port Meirion and, although the place is brightly decorated, he felt overtones of The Prisoner series that was filmed there. Therefore he used Silver Efex to give a dark sombre feel to the images

Allan's contributions were HDR Efex and Silver Efex.

Nik Software Part I

This month we concentrated on the Nik software, which is now free to download. First from Ann, some examples  before and after using Silver Efex software and Viveza. The piano and the Burghley House images show a conversion from Raw and then one done with Silver Efex to demonstrate the additional detail that can be extracted.

Ian brought along a lot of before and after images. The first ones with Silver Efex, the later ones with combinations of HDR Efex, and various filters from Silver Efex such as Glamour glow, Detail extractor etc

Jonathan similarly uses a range of filters from Color efex as well as Silver Efex and will combine layers with the filters at different opacities. The last one was from an old jpeg just to see what could be done with such a file.
Chris brought a garden image where he had the colour version, an infrared camera version and conversions from Raw and using Silver Efex and the Yew tree where he had used HDR Efex on the infrared file. The Highjumper had had Viveza and Color Efex.
